Wednesday freebies: Green Garmento reusable drycleaning bag

Posted by Siel in freebies (Wednesday June 30, 2010 at 1:37 pm)

Twice-weekly green giveaways.

Today’s lucky winner will get a gift that keeps on giving: The Green Garmento reusable drycleaning bag. This bag lets you say bye-bye forever to those disposable plastic sheaths your drycleaned clothes get put into.

The Green Garmento folds up neatly into an easily-totable garment bag. Just take your dirty clothes to your eco-friendly drycleaner in the bag, and ask that the bag be used in lieu of any disposable plastic bags. That’s what I do when I take my clothes to Cleaner By Nature!

I got a second Green Garmento in my shwag bag at the Women of the Green Generation event — so this brand new blue bag’s going to a lucky reader. Comment by Tues., July 6 to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wed., June 7 (more info on freebies here). U.S. addresses only.

  1. Here’s to hoping. The drycleaners seem to have misplaced mine the last time I had to get stuff done before a business trip!

  2. Oooh, I would love to try this! I recently started needing to dry clean a few items (I blame a fancy job and lots of weddings, i.e. adulthood) and I’m already sick of the plastic bags. I’ve reused the few I have, but I won’t be able to keep it up for long.

  3. I love this! I hate those flimsy plastic bags—they’re hard to use more than once too! What a great idea :)

  4. I love my Green Garmento! I just wish there were more eco-friendly dry cleaners out there. The closest one to me is about an hour away, so I usually end up taking lots of things all at the same time, an extra bag would be very helpful.

I stick a piece of paper with my contact info in the plastic sleeve of the bag to make sure that it gets back to me, so far so good.

  5. That’s a fantastic idea! I hate those plastic bags. And I can never think of something creative to use them for rather than throwing them out.

  9. I don’t want the free swag b/c I already have one. I’m just writing to rave about these kinds of bags. Makes it sooo easy to haul your stuff to the cleaners and then converts back to a hanging bag. If you don’t win one you should buy one anyway! I even keep the hangers in there so they don’t give me new ones each time I go to the cleaners.

  10. These are fantastic, cuz I’m sick of plastic. Now there’s a rhyme for ya. Winning one of these would be real poetry…
