Wednesday freebies: Permaculture Design class from EarthFlow

Posted by Siel in freebies (Wednesday August 25, 2010 at 7:28 am)

Twice-weekly green giveaways.

Curious about permacuture — and ready to get your hands dirty? Two lucky green LA girl readers will each win a pair of tickets to the first weekend of EarthFlow’s 10th Permaculture Design Certificate Course in Los Angeles!

The full course meets the first weekend of every month from October 2010 to March 2011. The happy winners of this giveaway will each get a pair of tickets to the the first weekend of the course, happening all day Sat., Oct. 2 to Sun., Oct. 3, from 10 am to 6 pm both days. The weekend will cover a detailed introduction to permaculture and natural pattern understanding — which could give you all the info you need to start applying permaculture principles to your life, or whet your appetite to sign up for the full course!

Your classmates will come from all walks of life — from sharp urban design professionals to dreadlocked students to retired backyard gardeners. I’ve taken this course (proof right), and highly recommend it! You’ll get to learn how to form natural areas of “coolth” instead of buying bigger air conditioning units, create conditions for lush backyard gardens to grow of their own accord instead of putting in backbreaking work to force plants to emerge, and much much more.

The course is taught by Larry Santoyo, an intense, funny, and locally-famous permaculture expert who’s the vice president of the Permaculture Institute, co-director of The Terra Foundation, and founder of the MicroVillage Network. Joining Larry will be guest instructors Toby Hemenway, author of Gaia’s Garden: A Guide to Home-Scale Permaculture, Scott Pittman, director of The Permaculture Institute, and other experts and speakers.

Want to sigh up for the full course? Get $100 off the $950 early bird fee simply by emailing info@earthflow.com asking for the green LA girl $100 discount. Or for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the first weekend, Oct. 2 and 3, comment by Tue., Aug. 31 to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wed., Sep. 1 (more info on freebies here). U.S. addresses only.
