Wednesday freebies: Practically Green

Posted by Siel in books, freebies (Wednesday October 21, 2009 at 7:07 am)

A twice-weekly sharing of eco-shwag.

Today’s giveaway’s a copy of Practically Green: Your Guide to Ecofriendly Decision-Making, a new book by Micaela Preston, a.k.a. Mindful Momma, which comes out Oct. 23!

Practically Green promises to take a “practical approach to green living” for those overwhelmed by green info, claiming that the book “takes the guesswork out of green decision making by helping you make smart, healthy choices for your family without spending tedious hours researching all of the products available on the market today.”

I remain skeptical that any book can actually eliminate guesswork when it comes to green decisions, since we live in an era of incomplete product life cycle analyses and obfuscating green messaging. But having met Micaela at BlogHer ’09, I’m sure Practical Green will help eco-newbies ask better questions — and make more eco-friendly decisions — than they would have otherwise.

DIYers will love that the book has more than 30 hands-on projects — plus some healthy recipes! Practically Green‘s $14.99 — or free for one lucky green LA girl reader who comments by Tuesday to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wednesday (more info on freebies here). US addresses only.

  4. This sounds like a great idea. And I would probably give it to my mom, who has a lot less time on her hands to do research and find out how to live more greenly.
