Twice-weekly green giveaways.

Today’s freebies are for the eco-frugal who want to green their bathrooms. One lucky green LA girl reader will win two Practecol devices that’ll help you save water and money.
The first’s a Shower Timer that’ll stick to your bathroom wall. Hit it before you turn on the water and you’ll get a green light — that’ll start flashing at 4.5 minutes to get you to rinse off already. At 5 minutes, you’ll get a red LED light. Obey those little signals, and you could save $44 a year.
The winner will also get a set of two Perfect Flush Toilet Tank Displacement Bags. These polyethylene bags are made with 50% post-consumer plastic — and each save .8 gallon per flush. My toilet’s already water-wise and won’t flush properly with these bags. If you’ve got an older, more wasteful toilet, these bags are for you.
The Practecol Shower Timer and Displacement Bags are available at Target for $4.99 and $9.99, respectively. But for a chance to win them free, comment by Tues, July 20 to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wed., July 21 (more info on freebies here). U.S. addresses only.

These seem great!
I currently have water bottles in my toilet tanks, but sometimes they get caught in there and the toilets keeps running until I notice and move the bottle. So much for saving water!
And my boyfriend could definitely use the shower timer :o)

The shower timer is something I really need. I take horribly long showers and have no idea how long I’ve been in there until I get out and it’s 20 minutes later, I’m horrible.

Very cool. I love your posts that show easy, affordable, money-saving green tips.
I’m not in it to win the goods: we just bought a house, and the (very old) bathroom fixtures were the first conversion. Next step: greywater, native plants outside, then a green roof (we hope).
I will certainly keep you posted.
