What you can do about poverty and AIDS

Posted by Siel in feminist/politics, losangeles (Thursday March 23, 2006 at 11:33 am)

What you can do about poverty and AIDSA heads up about the Keeping the Promise conference in Los Angeles this Saturday!

When: March 25, 2006, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Where: Mark Taper Hall of the Humanities (THH) on the University of Southern California campus at Exposition and Figueroa, Los Angeles. (PDF map of the USC campus)

The event, sponsored by Oxfam, The One Campaign, Amnesty International, and other groups, features a viewing of the documentary film Yuvsatta, a keynote, and workshops structured towards advocacy on accountability on the promises that the U.S. government has made on debt, trade, poverty and AIDS.

Ok — a conference on poverty and AIDS sounds depressing — but here’s a chance to be part of the solution. I’ll try to be there, but things depend a bit on whether or not I can finagle a free entry to the NaturalProducts ExpoWest.

All are welcome. The event’s free — even lunch is free for the first 100 people. An RSVP is requested — Please email amnesty596@gmail.com to RSVP.

  1. Apologies for leaving a comment not related to the post. I have a suggestion. Could you please add a “recent posts” list to your sidebar? I use My yahoo feed reader and clicking on a post takes me to that post’s page. However there is no way to navigate to the next/previous post (Other than clicking on “Older greens”).

  2. Hey Sameer — I’ll look for the code for the recent posts thing. But the easiest way for right now would just be to click on the top header — That’ll bring up the 10 most current posts. Or more accurately, the 9 most recent posts plus my wistful thinking :)
