So — Peter Sarsgaard has a baby with and is engaged to Maggie Gyllenhaal, sister of Jake Gyllenhaal, who’s an environmentalist that my friend Summer wrote about on Treehugger.

That’s the best enviro-angle I have for writing ’bout Year of the Dog, a “dark comedy drama” about a gal whose pet dog suddently dies, in which Peter Sarsgaard plays a part.

Also, the dogs look cute.

Basically, I wanna see the film cuz I think Peter Sarsgaard is hot. Usually I say I thought he was hot in Kinsey, though I also really thought he was hot in Boys Don’t Cry — but that makes some people raise an eyebrow so I usually say Kinsey.

But the protagonist in Year of the Dog isn’t Peter — It’s Molly Shannon, of Superstar fame :) I like her too.

So while the trailer does seem to hint at a sappy “lonely girl meets boy and finds fulfillment” idiocy, I’m hoping that the real film’ll be something different. This may be a bit of a delusional hope on my part. I dunno — has Molly Shannon sold out to the sappy chick-flick level? I hope not –
