Working Assets celly

Most people’ve heard of Working Assets’ long distance, but don’t know that they have a cell phone service. Well, they do — I have it now :)

I kept my new number but got a free LG 125 flip phone :) So far, all’s going well — Working Assets uses the Sprint network here, and it’s been good to me. I’m on the $49,99 plan for 600 anytime and unlimited night and weekend minutes.

The old phone’s been donated back to Working Assets for reuse or recycliing, BTW :)

  1. I had no idea there was service out there like this. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to switch because I desperately need a new phone. I’m going to have to pay to break my contract but supporting what I believe in makes it all worthwhile. Thanks!

  2. You could of course *donate* the penalty to the org of your choice and then switch at the end of the contract… Just a thought ;)

  3. Wait — Now I feel like a bit of a cheapie just waiting till the end of my contract to switch :P

  4. My contract isn’t up until 1/13/2008 and I need to purchase a new cell phone anyway (I lost my good one). I don’t have any credits earned for a discount. So, I figure…cost of a brand new phone on the same contract that doesn’t donate a percentage vs. paying the fee and making the switch (phone included in the deal), it probably evens out.

And don’t worry…I donate both time & money to many causes that help out both local and international organizations. :)

  5. Ah, okay. So now I don’t feel like such a cheapie :) I really do like the Working Assets phone, BTW. I’m a flip phone girl — I even like the ringtones :P

  6. I made the switch and I’m so thrilled with the service, I just had to give an update. Not only are the customer support people the nicest, most helpful people but they will buy out your old contract!! That’s right…I didn’t even have to ask. They just did it when I transferred over my number. How cool is that?
