Since a yummy lunch with MacroGal at Real Food Daily, macro foods’ve piqued my curiousity.
Know nothing about macrobiotics? Read about it here. If you’re a SoCalian, or an US Weekly addict (Gwyneth Paltrow’s a fan), you’ve likely at least heard of it.
In any case — During my last trip to Co-opportunity, I spotted MacroTreats — The breakfast cookie. These macrobiotic cookies are made by a woman who had breast cancer — who credits her macro diet for helping her beat the cancer.
I was gonna take a pic of the cookie intact, but I ate the thing while biking home. It’s yummy AND healthy — sorta like Mani’s Bakery stuff — without the oversweetness of “conventional” cookies.
I even bought these Kelp noodles that Macrogal recommended. Haven’t tried them yet, but am v. v. curious –
Macrogal, like many other macros, went macro due to health reasons. If you’re an LA gal considering going macro too, your best bets for eating out are Real Food Daily, Sante La Brea, and M Cafe de Chaya on Melrose — though MacroGalsays M isn’t exactly a macro purist restaurant…
